When and Where
The 2007 Mahrajan will take place on Sunday, August 12 at Oglebay Park Site One/Levinson Shelter in Wheeling. Outdoor Mass begins at 10:30 a.m. Food service, booths and entertainment begin at 12:00 noon and the festival closes at 7:00 p.m.
Entertainment
Entertainment will be continuous throughout the festival, featuring Conchi and her Alhambra Dance Troupe and musician/singer Ghada Haddad. Ghada, wife of Kamil Haddad who entertained us at the past two festivals, is a talented singer and performer - often more in demand than Kamil. Ghada will also entertain us at the Hafli on Saturday evening, August 11.
Saturday Night Hafli
The Hafli will again be held at the St. Vincent de Paul Parish Hall, 2244 Marshall Avenue, Elm Grove, Wheeling. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and a complete delicious Lebanese dinner including salad, dessert and beverages will be served at 7:00 p.m. This year’s Hafli will feature entertainment by Ghada Haddad and a silent auction of a variety of beautiful, themed gift baskets donated by our parishioners and friends. There is sure to be something for everyone. Use the attached form to order your tickets for the price of only $25 each no later than August 5th.
Table Reservations
Reserve a table for eight to comfortably enjoy the Mahrajan with your family and friends. The cost is still $30. You can use the attached form and request your preference to be under the tent or at a picnic table under the trees.
Mahrajan Souvenir Book
Promote your business or honor your family, while supporting the Mahrajan, by placing an ad in our souvenir book which will be distributed at the festival. The deadline for placing an ad is June 30. See the attached order form for details.
Sponsorships
You can help to guarantee the success of this year’s Mahrajan with a major sponsorship. Sponsorships are available at the following levels: Singer Ghada Haddad–$1,000; Alhambra Dancers–$500; Other Booths (Cultural, Souvenir, Games, Beverages, Food, etc.) –$250 each. All major sponsors will be recognized on a sign displayed at the festival, as well as in the souvenir book and in the weekly church bulletin.
Donations of any size will be appreciated and will contribute to a great festival. Gifts of $100 will be recognized at the Benefactor Level, and gifts of $50 at the Patron Level, and will be published in the souvenir book and the church bulletin.
Raffles and Early Bird Prizes
Books of six tickets each are enclosed for our $1,000 Raffle and our Afghan Raffle. This can be your way to help us “build for our future” and to insure the success of our Mahrajan. Please return the stubs with your payment in the enclosed envelope; if you cannot buy or sell the tickets, either discard them or return them so that we can sell them. Tickets for each raffle cost only $1 each or a book of 6 for $5.
All tickets returned by July 28 will be entered in a special drawing for a $100 “Early Bird Entry” prize to take place on Sunday, July 29. There will be two $100 prizes, one for each raffle. All entries, including the $100 winners, will remain eligible for the grand prizes to be drawn at the Mahrajan. The heirloom-quality afghan has once again been crocheted and donated by Elizabeth Ferris Magnone.
